Candidates for the Bert & Phyllis Lamb Prize in Political Science will be considered either through applications or nominations. Applications and nominations require the same information to ensure that a candidate is competitive. Although we prefer to receive applications and nominations as email attachments, submission via the U.S. Postal Service will be accepted. Click Here to read the Selection Criteria.
Remember that the prize will be awarded for innovation and good writing. Elements required for consideration by the Selection Committee include:
Name of the nominee or applicant.
Address of the nominee or applicant.
Contact information for the nominee or applicant.
College or university the applicant or nominee is attending.
The applicant or nominee’s major and expected graduation date.
A signature from the applicant certifying that the information contained in the nomination or application is true and accurate, and giving permission for the Bert & Phyllis Lamb Prize Committee permission to verify the candidate’s academic record, publish the winner’s name, and publish the innovative paper. Electronic signatures will be accepted. In addition to the required documentation the successful submission must include:
- A single-spaced and typed précis of a paper describing the innovation or summary of the innovative paper. The précis must not exceed 600 words.
- A double-spaced, typed paper no longer than 6,000 words in length, plus references.
- Completed Application or Nomination Form.
- Letters from Applicant/Nominee and Faculty Sponsor.

Potential applicants are encouraged to indicate their intent to apply by filling out the form below. Applicants who submit an intent to apply will receive periodic updates until the submission deadline of the third Monday in February of each year.
